Unlock Wellness: How to Improve Your Self-Care Routine

Hi Folks,

I’m back at it after a very restful holiday! Did you catch our newsletter from December dispelling a prominent misconception about massage therapy? Well I had so much fun with that one that I wanted to take some time this week to talk about another misconception. Here goes:

So often when people talk about getting a massage, they frame it like a treat, like something that is earned after a period of intense effort or because it’s a designated special day. This attitude towards massage totally misses the fact that therapeutic touch is a necessity of well-being. In the same way that we don’t think of exercise or eating well as an occasional treat to be earned, my wish is for more people to integrate therapeutic touch as a regular part of their self-care.

This is because frequency matters when it comes to the impact therapy can have.

How often you should be getting massaged varies from individual to individual. For example, if you’re actively working out 3-4 times a week, my recommendation would be coming in once a week if possible. If you’ve got moderate stress levels, maybe once a month. And of course, these recommendations should be balanced against financial realities and time constraints.

Ultimately, making therapeutic touch part of our clients’ everyday lives is what we’re all about at Mahalo Massage NYC. We love the opportunity to sit down with both new clients and regulars to figure out their needs and how we can work together for their wellness. So, as always, thank you so much for being on this journey with us as we continue our work to transform how people view therapeutic touch, one client at a time.

With care,

Bob
